Job Summary: The University Librarian is the Head of the
University Library. The incumbent will be responsible for the development,
control, management and coordination of all library and information services of
the University. The University Librarian shall be responsible for the
development, control, management and coordination of all library and
information services of the University.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In
charge of planning and implementing, in liaison with relevant Departments
of the University, the various projects and programs of the Library - Familiarize
him/herself with the various programs offered by the University and liaise
with the various School Heads on issues regarding the development of the
Library, to ensure that relevant information materials are provided to the
University Community - Organize
and chair meetings of the Library Committees - Keep
in constant touch with developments in the world of information to ensure
that relevant and up to date information is provided to the University
staff and students - The
incumbent will ensure the creation and maintenance
of Library databases to enable the University community have easy access
to the University’s Information Resource - Work
closely with other information providing Departments such as Information
Technology Department, to ensure that information to the users is provided
in a coordinated manner - In
charge of planning for Library Staff development in collaboration with the
Director, Human Resources and keep Staff abreast with developments in
their profession - Mentor
and supervise Staff and hold regular staff meetings - Carry
out any other related duties, as may be necessary to ensure the provision
of efficient and effective Library and Information services in the
University
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate must hold a Master of Library and Information Sciences
(LIS) or related discipline and a PhD in Library and Information Sciences
(LIS) - The
candidates should possess at least twelve (12) years working experience,
three (3) of which must be at Senior Management Level from a Reputable
Organisation. - The
applicant must be have mentored LIS professionals by teaching or
supervising their Research work and/ or setting up LIS units - At
least five (5) new recognized Publications and/ or conference papers - Information,
literacy, instructions, is required - Excellent
track record of high integrity and leadership - Age: Below 55 years
