agency in Uganda. . Currently WFP focuses on three priority areas: Saving lives
in Emergencies; Building Resilience through Predictable Safety Nets; Improving
Nutrition & Mother-and Child Health; and Supporting Small Holder Farmers to
Access Markets. WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.
Job Summary: The Programme
Associate will be tasked with monitoring, implementing and reporting of
WFP-supported programmes.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Tasked with the projection, consolidation
    of food & cash needs for refugees, asylum seekers, Nutrition/Maternal
    and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) & Supplementary Feeding
    Programme activities in the region and prepare the;
    • Monthly call forward for
      General Food Distribution and Cash need for refugees
    • Monthly General Food &
      Cash Distribution schedule in collaboration with partners
    • Food & Cash release Notes
      verified to ensure correctness of food commodities & cash released
    • Supervise weekly market data
      prices information collection. Human interest story documentation
      requirement for reporting.
  • Consolidate/draft weekly, monthly
    reports/updates for the sub office in Liaison with Monitoring Assistants,
    Office of the Prime Minister  and
    partners updates for WFP supported programme.
  • The incumbent will also supervise timely
    partner reporting for all activities including Food and Cash based
    transfers, Agriculture & Market Support (AMS), Nutrition and Food
    Basket Monitoring /Cash Based Monitoring activities by partners.
  • Oversee the data entry process into WFP
    managed system
  • Keenly review of partner programme and
    financial reports for accuracy and reconciliation with field level
    agreements
  • Provide field support supervisions &
    Monitoring of programme implementation of refugee activities including
    Nutrition, Cash & livelihood activities in Southwest refugee
    settlements and AMS activities for farmers in the region.
  • Programme joint field activities,
    trainings & Field Level Agreements review meeting with stakeholders
    (Partners & Government counter parts).
  • Tasked with the preparation of Sub Office
    EPRR and AMS budgets, activity proposal and financial forecast quarterly.
  • Support supervision of Partner training
    and monitoring other WFP supported activities as require, construction
    works, farmer stock positions in the Southwest region
  • Coordinate and monitor the field activity
    implementation of the Programme at the field level in close collaboration
    with the implementing partners.
  • Conduct needs assessments, develop and
    mobilize/sensitize WFP supported individual farmers for
    training/information sharing as would be required.
  • Provide support on the conduct of regular
    meetings with district stakeholders, farmer organization and cooperating
    partners on the stock availability and speculative prices.
  • Support the WFP, Sub Office and
    implementing partners in encouraging women’s access to economic skills
    development and advocacy on gender focused activities
  • Support the Sub office in meetings and
    activities in absence of immediate supervisor
  • Supervise and appraisal sub Office
    programme field staff
  • Performs any other official business
    deemed necessary by the Sub Office management.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations
    UN World Food Programme (WFP) Programme Associate job opportunity should
    hold a University degree in Nutrition, Agriculture, Education, Rural
    Development, Development Studies, Food Science and Social Sciences or
    related field.
  • Previous experience supporting technical
    teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
  • Previous exposure and experience towards
    contributing to the implementation of programmes.
  • The applicant should have observed or
    assisted with policy discussions.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
