facilitate the transport services needs for UNDP in West Nile. Under the
guidance and supervision of UNDP’s Field Coordinator in Yumbe, and with overall
technical reporting to UNDP’s Head of Transport in Kampala, the driver will
facilitate the transport services as required across West Nile.
Responsibilities:
- Driving office vehicles for the transport
of authorized personnel and visitors; and - Driving office vehicles for the delivery
and collection of mail, documents and other items; - Ensure cost-savings through proper use of
vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of
inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports; - The incumbent will ensure proper
day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor
repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of
tires, brakes, car washing, etc; - The Driver will also ensure availability
of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance,
vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit,
and necessary spare parts; - Ensure that all immediate actions required
by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the United Nations
UNDP Driver job opportunity should have completed Secondary Education (A-level). - Possess a Valid Driver’s license.
- At least five years’ experience as a
driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations
and skills in minor vehicle repair. - Previous experience in city and up-country
driving - Excellent interpersonal, skills and demonstrates a
client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and
the ability to work with people of different national and cultural
backgrounds
