non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, inter-denominational charitable
organization that was established in 1999 by a group of volunteers as a
response to a crisis caused by HIV &AIDS and poverty in rural communities
in Uganda. FOC-REV Ministries Uganda exists to work with the poor and
marginalized rural people to improve their livelihood and increase
self-reliance through education support, health services advocacy, food
security and networking.
implementing a Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth (SOCY) project
targeting Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Hoima and Luwero districts, funded
by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through
Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The SOCY project interventions shall be
focusing primarily on OVC Case Management and household economic strengthening
through savings groups and associated interventions and parenting/caregiver
programs.
Coordinator will provide leadership in the implementation of Household economic
strengthening activities using Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC)
methodology as an entry strategy for improving economic status of Children
youth and their caregivers. S/he will ensure efficient data collection, analyse
MIS data, adapt training toolkits to ensure program quality, and submit monthly
and quarterly trend analysis and management reports to the program manager. The
incumbent will also be responsible for providing operational and technical
assistance to Economic systems strengthening team geared towards scaling up SILC+
programs in Luwero District following industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Work in close collaboration with CSOs
working on beneficiary enrolment, assessment and protection formal and
informal structures to ensure a comprehensive response to the needs of the
project beneficiaries. - The jobholder will manage the integration
of HES in the project and provide timely and detailed positive feedback to
improve integration. - Mentor and build the capacity of Program
officers/supervisors to integrate SILC into their development activities
and additives. - Coordinate preparation of quarterly and
annual plans, budgets and reports for the component. - Work with agro-enterprise technical lead
to support SILC supervisors to facilitate and coordinate implementation of
farmer enterprise development and market linkages - Provide technical assistance and manage
the development, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of the HES portfolio
in the project. - Provide input into recruitment and
orientation of new SILC staff as may be required. - Prepare project specific work plans,
detailed implementation plans and project schedules } based on project
agreements and contractual obligations. - Take part in budget processes and periodic
budget reviews for partners’ SILC activities e.g. trainings and field
monitoring visits.
- Work in close collaboration with other
project staff and partners, work to identify capacity gaps with regards to
Project activities in the District. - Design and support training for staff
project beneficiaries in workshops and group level - Build the capacity of project staff on the
SILC methodology and other HES - Guide and support project staff in their
efforts to train Field Agents and supervisors.
- Maintain the partner level SAVIX MIS.
- Ensure project is trained in use and
management of SAVIX MIS. - Guide and support staff in their efforts
to collect and analyze data on a monthly basis. - Use and study information captured through
the SAVIX MIS, Production and Marketing to submit monthly and quarterly
trend analysis reports.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the USAID Project
SILC Coordinator should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Micro-Finance, Social Sciences or Business-related courses from a
reputable organization. - A minimum of three years’ experience in
savings-led microfinance models e.g. Village Savings and Loans (VSL),
Savings for Change, CO-SAVE, SILC, etc and management of OVC projects in a
rural setting - Honesty
- Self-drive
- Good leadership/Management skills
- Good team player
- Thematic knowledge of Microfinance
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Computer proficiency
