non-profit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty
problems. IPA brings together researchers and decision-makers to design,
rigorously evaluate, and refine these solutions and their applications,
ensuring that the evidence created is used to improve the lives of the world’s
poor. In recent decades, trillions of dollars have been spent on programs
designed to reduce global poverty, but clear evidence on which programs succeed
is rare, and when evidence does exist, decision-makers often do not know about
it. IPA exists to bring together leading researchers and these decision-makers
to ensure that the evidence we create leads to tangible impact on the world.
Since its founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 400 leading academics to
conduct over 600 evaluations in 51 countries. This research has informed
hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of individuals
worldwide.
Volunteer will support ongoing research projects. The position offers an
opportunity to gain first-hand field management experience in an organization
undertaking cutting-edge development research. The selected candidates will be
based in Kampala (Uganda) and will work closely with research and field staff
as well as scholars from the world’s top universities.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out literature review
- Provide support in survey design,
programming for digital data collection and oversight of field teams - Recruit and train field officers
- Provide support in fieldwork
implementation and oversee data collection in the field - Supervise the data flow to ensure quality
of the data through high frequency checks - Support in the writing of project results
for reporting purposes - Prepare policy briefs and coordinate
policy dissemination events
Experience:
- The applicants for the Student Volunteer
jobs should hold Bachelor’s degrees (completed or enrolled) in economics,
social sciences, public policy, or a related field - Background in quantitative research
methods - Excellent verbal and written communication
skills in English - Highly flexible, self-motivating, able to
manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player - Familiarity with impact evaluation
methodologies, particularly with randomized controlled trials - Possession of a Master’s degree (completed
or enrolled) in economics, social sciences, public policy, or a related
field is desired - Proficient to advanced capabilities in
Stata is an added advantage - Previous experience cleaning and analyzing
data is desired - Excellent project management and
organizational skills - Demonstrated ability to lead staff
