Norway. SFEA has a mission to eradicate poverty through interventions in
Microfinance and Education. SFEA intervenes through local partners in the
countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan. SF’s identity is based on
Christian values and strives to approach all people with dignity and openness.

partnership, SF works to empower the poor to take charge of their own lives and
communities.
Job Summary: The Regional
Programs Manager will assist the Regional Director (RD) in the development and
effective implementation of the region’s strategy and in overseeing the
different programs of SF Eastern Africa (SFEA) and ensure relevance and quality
of interventions.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Key to the role is to ensure that the
    overall regional programs are consistent with SF’s vision, mission and
    strategic goals.
  • Play a focal role in the operationalizing
    and revisions to the region’s strategic and operational plans.
  • Formulate and manage strategies and
    innovative processes and systems for strengthening basic Education and
    Livelihood systems in poor and hard to reach communities
  • Develop and promote unique and appropriate
    education concepts among SF partners and ensure that sustainability
    mechanisms/ exit strategies are in-built right from the beginning of SF-
    supported projects.
  • Develop funding proposals and periodic
    reports to funding agencies.
  • The incumbent will coordinate and
    supervise the liaison offices in the region and to ensure that programs
    managed from there are in line with the overall SF Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure that institutional objectives are
    performed in cooperation with partner organizations and that there is
    continuous regional growth in the quality and volume of operations.
  • Ensuring that SFEA has a holistic approach
    towards development and there is qualitative synergy between the Education
    and Microfinance interventions of SFEA.
  • Work closely with the M&E officer,
    develop and coordinate participatory and preliminary studies to establish
    good baseline data for initiating new Education and Livelihoods projects
  • Tasked with networking, advocating and
    lobbying for vulnerable children and women with various governments,
    likeminded NGOs, and firms.
  • Effectively lead, supervise and support
    the team of specialist staff in the Programs Unit to enable them
    effectively perform their roles and in turn ensure high quality projects
    are delivered to the beneficiaries through SFEA partner organizations.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Regional Programs
    Manager job placement should preferably hold a relevant first degree with
    long relevant experience and additional qualifications in Social
    Development and Management of Community programs
  • Possession of a relevant Masters degree
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a
    similar position, preferably with an International NGO
  • Qualifications and experience in both the
    humanitarian and socio-economic development fields with demonstrated
    understanding of the importance of building the civil society and
    demonstrated ability to add value to local partners.
  • Highly creative individual who possesses
    energy, self-confidence, and flexibility; thrives in a dynamic
    multi-cultural environment.
  • Should have judgment necessary to
    understand, balance, and respond to the competing needs of many different
    constituents: bring fresh ideas and a genuine interest in trying new
    approaches.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    Development Education concepts and Livelihoods development of the poor.
  • Successful experience in fundraising
  • Good team player, passionate, of high
    integrity, and articulate about rights based development approaches and
    social change
  • Excellent people and mentoring/coaching
    skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
    skills in English
  • Should be willing to travel extensively
    locally and internationally
  • Uphold Christian values
