Improvement Advisor (PMTCT & Nutrition)
improving the quality of health care, social services, and health education
worldwide. With a non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services (CHS),
URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
Project is a five-year cooperative agreement (October 2012-September 2017)
awarded to University Research Co., LLC and is dedicated to improving health,
population and nutrition services through technical support to service delivery
institutions, country Ministries of Health, USAID country missions, and
cooperating agencies.
Improvement Advisor- PMTCT will support districts and health facility teams to
provide quality PMTCT services according to national guidelines and
evidence-driven interventions; using QI methodologies to address gaps. The QI
Advisor will effectively plan and implement activities which directly
contribute to eMTCT; and will provide technical guidance to the PMTCT team.
Responsibilities:
- Offer
technical guidance on the implementation of PMTCT strategies - Work
closely with the current team to identify gaps in provision of PMTCT
services, strategize to achieve our goals at both site and national
level - Build
the capacity of the district QI teams and IPs to use the QI approach to
support facility QI teams improve the quality of care for HIV
positive mothers and their babies; set up and support district response
teams in selected districts. - Assist
the facility teams to identify gaps in provision of PMTCT services,
regularly collect and use data to improve the quality of services,
linkages to care, etc. - Develop
and implement strategies to integrate FP, TB into MCH; improve male
involvement and community linkages. - Work
closely with the community team to establish improved identification and
linkage of HIV positive pregnant and lactating mothers. - Coordinate
and liaise with the Ministry of Health/ ACP department responsible for
PMTCT to ensure that MoH strategies are implemented, feedback
provided. - On
a regular basis conduct peer-to-peer learning sessions for facility
teams. - Build
technical competencies of facility health care providers in eMTCT
treatment and care through trainings, onsite mentorships and peer
to peer learning meetings. - Develop
and timely submit work plans and budgets for all assigned PMTCT activities
at least quarterly. - Keenly
yeview and improve technical strategies employed in PMTCT to ensure the USAID
ASSIST project work plan is adhered to and implemented with
measurable success. - Work
jointly with the responsible implementing partners to ensure that the
lessons learned from the collaborative sites are spread to other IP
supported sites and that partners put the dashboard to good use. - Write
and submit bi-weekly and quarterly reports, and after-action review
reports at all requested times to the SQIA to enable further
improvement and planning. - Work
in close collaboration with the KM staff, document best practices in form
of case studies, success stories, abstracts, video clips in
addition to the routine monthly updates, quarterly and annual reports. - Work
in close collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation team ensure that
data collected is accurate and valid and captures process and
outcome indicators. - Collect,
review and manage data collected from the health facility teams, and
maintain QI and M&E databases for sites supported; develop
dashboards - Perform
any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID ASSIST
Quality Improvement Advisor- PMTCT job opportunity must hold a Degree in a health- related field
e.g. medicine, clinical practice or nursing - A
minimum of six years’ experience in providing PMTCT care and comprehensive
HIV care; experience gained through serving within a government
institution or NGO with proven ability to coordinate activities of
different stakeholders at district and or sub national level. - Significant
exposure and experience in supporting teams to apply Quality Improvement
approaches is an added advantage. - Previous
experience in implementing and applying Quality improvement
approaches and providing clinical training to service providers and stake
holders. - Excellent
writing skills and verbal communication or interpersonal skills is a must. - Excellent
analytical skills and ability to support a cross section of frontline
health workers - Ability
and willingness to travel within the supported districts
