and Facilities Manager Fields of Life will primarily be responsible for the
structural integrity, quality and management of the construction and
engineering related Fields of Life school building and other infrastructure
projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise the construction
of new school buildings and organise the planned upgrading and maintenance
work for the existing buildings and additions to schools - The jobholder will ensure that all due
diligence process on proposed projects – site surveys, commissioning and
land title checks are carried out - Work closely with the FOL planning
committee to follow up on acceptance of beneficiary’s project proposal - Work in close consultation with the
beneficiaries, liaise with and advise approved professionals / consultants
regarding FOL’s requirements for the projects - Maintain all the necessary engineering
documentation; approved plans, copy of contract, reports completion
certificates - Ensure that any defects are documented and
resolved on a timely basis - The incumbent will network with other
organisations in the sector and research best practice in school building
projects
- Work closely with the proposals committee
to appraise new proposals for projects. - Ensure that construction activities move
according to schedule - Regularly
monitor the progress of the construction activities and hold
regular status meetings with contractors and the beneficiaries. - Maintain adherence to the budgetary
guidelines, quality, and health and safety standards. - Work closely with beneficiaries and donors
to ensure the projects meet targets and purposes. - Ensure that all the relevant project
documents are completed and filed. - Prepare interim, final and ad hoc reports
where necessary for donors. - Prepare and submit timely project status
reports and monthly activity reports
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Projects and
Facilities Manager job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering, Quantity surveying or construction management. - At least four years’ experience in
construction management / architectural design/ engineering field role - Previous exposure and experience of
working on school building projects and work in the voluntary and
development sector - Possession of a post graduate
qualification in Project management or a relevant field is an added
advantage - Ability to drive long distances and
extended trips through out East Africa
