and injustice. To achieve this, we support local projects in developing
countries, we lobby governments and companies to take into account the
interests of the poorest people and we campaign to involve citizens in our
work. We implement our programs by working with local NGO partners and civil
society organizations and engaging with private sector and governments. Oxfam
employs over 6,000 people worldwide in more than 90 countries. In Uganda, our
program is anchored on three broad themes deliberately focused on Women’s
Rights: Resilient Livelihoods, Governance and Accountability and Humanitarian
Preparedness and Response.
effective usage of existing data and to prototype new data services as minimal
viable products (MVP’s) to test the propositions for Oxfam as protector and
enabler of digital civic space of citizens in countries worldwide. Oxfam is a
knowledge-driven organization and processing data into actual information feeds
the evidence base of our theories of change. This project is about adding the
power of prediction that is linked to the analyses of large amount of data into
our work on knowledge development, but also about storing data effectively and
efficiently, broadening the digital civic space of citizens and shaping related
policies around that.
Leader – DataLab Team will manage all Oxfam Uganda’s DataLab project activities
in country. The incumbent will work closely with the DataLab team members based
in The Hague and be partly responsible for the successful implementation of the
project. The project leader will
coordinate the activities in the country office and amongst the local DataLab
team members, and be a focal point for a local network of (data) experts and IT
specialist and searches for future funding.
Responsibilities:
- Tasked with local project management
(planning, monitoring activities and budget) - Serve as the contact person for external
stakeholders - Promoter of project in country team and
other stakeholders - Take lead in funding proposals
- Steer product development
- Linking pin between data experts and
higher CO management - Build and engage local network of
companies and teams that build services
Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for this vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
Information Technology. - Preferably experience with SCRUM or Agile
ways of working - Familiarity with lean prototyping method
(MVP) - Prior project management experience
- Affinity with data driven services
- Previous experience with business model
thinking - Outgoing and good social skills/networker
- Affinity with specific theme of project
(e.g. resilience, disaster reduction tools, etc) - Excellent command of English
