Inspection
the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the
elaboration of standards and quality of products and services so as to
facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare
annual, quarterly and monthly budget, work plans and targets of all
activities to be undertaken within the Division - Develop
and supervise the maintenance of a sample coding system that eases sample
identification and preserves sample integrity - Handle,
follow-up and convey test results to the respective importers whose
samples were submitted for testing and interpret and report the
decision on the test results to them accordingly - Keenly
verify completeness of sample documentation as submitted from the various
centers for accountability purposes - The
incumbent will also implement and ensure adherence to the departmental
and institutional Quality Management Systems and make respective reports
to the Manager - Mentor
and train staff of QMS systems/issues and act as the quality coordinator
departmental representative - The
incumbent will also regularly liaise with inspectors in the Department to
update records of all products that do not have or have obsolete
standards for purposes of aiding standards formulation - Conduct
compliance analysis of departmental operations and submit monthly
compliance reports to the Manager - Keenly
track the turnaround time of inspection interventions including
sample stay in the Bureau to assist in decision making concerning
facilitation of trade - Coordinate
all departmental administrative requirements such as procurement
requirements, requisitions for office imprests, organizing for
field tours among others - Prepare
monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the operations of the office
Experience:
- The applicant for the UNBS Principal
Inspector- Compliance and Quality Assurance job opportunity should hold a Masters’ degree in Science or any
other related field from a recognized University/Institute - Honours
Degree in a science field or any other science related qualification from
a recognized University/Institution - At least eight years’ experience in Standards, Quality Assurance, or quality
control, Standards - Development or Laboratory Testing after
graduation - Additional
training in ISO 9001, 17020 is an added advantage - Hands-on
supervisory competencies with capacity to multi-task and deliver results
efficiently with minimal supervision - Proven
people leadership and functional management competencies with
hands-on skills in Risk Management and internal controls in the functional
areas - Highly
computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the
Internet applications - High level of integrity and
professionalism - Excellent communication skills
- Good teamwork and analytical skills and
needs to be a - Good team player
- Excellent communicator with good oral
communication and presentation skills. - Age: Between 30 and 45 years
