Responsibilities:
- Prepare sketches or drawings and
specifications for project components related to solid waste management,
maintenance of buildings, energy efficiency, etc.; - The incumbent will also research and/or
design furniture for colleges; - Research alternative durable construction
materials and design pilot projects; - Provide support in follow up of the
project activities related to construction, rehabilitation, equipping and
furnishing of the training institutions that are part of the project; - Support in controlling of quality and cost
of all activities related to the infrastructure component of the project; - Support in organising the infrastructure
activities, including capacity development and awareness raising, with a
special focus on involving the training institutions in the preparation
and execution of works, including maintenance activities; - Joining regular site visits during
rehabilitation/ construction works; - Support in introducing ‘State of the Art’
sustainable architecture and energy efficiency principles into MoES
guidelines and strategies; - Keeping complete administration (both hard
and soft copies) of all project activities related to the infrastructure
component of the project, including correspondence, approved documents,
finance, reports, procurement, etcetera); - Significantly contribute to the reporting
and lay-out of project results and lessons learned.
Experience:
- The applicant for the National Architect
should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture; - At least five years’ experience in design
and follow-up of construction works - Previous exposure and experience in
designing for Education is an asset; - Prior experience in designing with
Architecture offices abroad is an added advantage - Previous experience in sustainable
Architecture and energy efficient designs is an asset; - Creative thinker and artist;
- Previous experience in working with public
tendering procedures; - Good communicator and team-player;
- Fluent in English speaking and writing;
- No objection to working overtime and
undertaking field missions.
package with a gross monthly income of between UGX 5,100,000 and UGX 6,100,000
depending on the relevant years of work experience, medical insurance for
staff, spouse and all biological dependants plus a 13th Month compulsory package
paid together with their December salary.
