Corporate Communications will manage MTN Uganda’s internal and external
communications by coordinating information from the various stakeholders while
promoting a positive public image as well as control the dissemination of
information on the company’s behalf.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the single point of contact for
other departments to provide support on internal communication. - Identify, develop and execute
communications strategy for key media contacts and customer references - Tasked with monitoring and analyzing staff
opinion and identifying issues and trends by carrying out internal surveys
and advise management on
appropriate actions/responses - Plan, generate and oversee all internal
campaigns and competitions to keep staff up to speed on MTN products and
services - Research media coverage and industry
trends. - Develop fresh story ideas to position MTN
as a leader in the telecommunications industry - Serve as a key liaison with the media and
ensure consistent engagement with this stakeholder group - Create and manage the CEO’s monthly
‘Updates Magazine’ - Publishing the Company‘s corporate
magazines(Y’ello) and monthly editorial contributions to the Group Y’ello
magazine - Submit and contribute articles to Group
for the weekly Group Y’ello Buzz - Update OPCO events, products and services
on the Group intranet – MTN Connect. - Managing, implementing and coordinating
communication meetings like quarterly CEO meetings, Staff forums, H.R
Road-shows and other meetings from time to time - Manage the archiving of all PR/Internal
communications material for the company through a centralized data base - Draft press releases, speeches, media
relations content, case studies, white papers, executive bios, corporate
newsletter content, social media content, and speaking proposals. and
other documentation for MTN events - Support Companywide events
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the MTN Manager –
Corporate Communications career opportunity should hold a bachelor’s
degree in Mass Communications, Social Sciences, English or any related
field. - At least five years’ experience in public
relations, community relations, communications, marketing, media house
environment or related experience - Ability to use MS Office programs like web
designing, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel, Snipping tool etc. - Good knowledge of Media Relations and
communications, Internal communications - Hands-on experience in writing articles
for print and online magazines, Press releases, Talking points and ability
to carry out interviews with different stakeholders when need arises. - A good customer service background dealing
customers face to face and via phone interactions - Previous experience in speech writing
- Experience in working with the media is an
advantage - Additional training in Marketing
Communications - Training in Media Relations and Stake
holder Management - Training in Public Speaking
- Excellent Communication (Written and Oral)
and Interpersonal skills - Strong sense of urgency and action,
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
- Good Initiative and coordination
techniques - Good telephone etiquette.
