Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project
improving the quality of health care, social services, and health education
worldwide. With a non-profit affiliate, the Center for Human Services (CHS),
URC manages projects in over 45 countries, including the United States.
Project is a five-year cooperative agreement (October 2012-September 2017)
awarded to University Research Co., LLC and is dedicated to improving health,
population and nutrition services through technical support to service delivery
institutions, country Ministries of Health, USAID country missions, and
cooperating agencies.
Assistant will primarily ensure that all DREAMS reporting needs for Gulu, Lira,
Omoro and Oyam districts are met. Also, the incumbent will ensure timely,
complete and accurate information must be entered bi-weekly in the DREAMS
tracker.
Responsibilities:
- The
jobholder will oversee and monitor the performance of all data collection
systems or databases for DREAMS in Gulu, Lira, Omoro and Oyam.
Oversee data collection activities by peer facilitators and data
assistants in their respective districts. - Ensure
timely data entry of all DREAMS data. - Work
closely with the district biostatisticians to ensure DHIS 2 information
tallies with DREAMS data. - Ensure
that any data quality concerns are addressed appropriately and in a timely
fashion. - The
incumbent will coordinate direct data verification / assessment to assure
internal consistency and validity of data. - Maintain
and oversee integrity of all DREAMS data. - Support
development of job aids, tools and other guides to improve data
collection, management and reporting for DREAMS. - Prepare
regularly updated progress reports on the status of DREAMS program data. - Send
data for the ad-hoc reports as necessary. - Support
and participate in quarterly performance review meetings to share
experience and give feedback on the DREAMS performance in Gulu,
Lira, Omoro, and Oyam. - Prepare
regular dashboards for the program and supported facilities. - Actively
participate in data review meetings. - On
a monthly, quarterly basis, and when required provide reporting rates of
the DREAMS communities and related facilities. - Perform
any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID ASSIST
M&E Assistant job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics or
related field. - A
minimum of three (3) years’ experience in design and implementation of
data management systems for health related projects particularly
HIV. - Previous
exposure and experience with community data management systems. - Working
knowledge of statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA, Epi Info and
others. - Broad
knowledge and understanding of the MOH HMIS/DHIS2 systems. - Understanding
of USAID expectations. - Ability
and willingness to travel within the supported districts - Previous experience working with international NGOs, MOH, district
administration, public health facilities will be an advantage. - Ability
to work independently with minimal supervision - Good
strategic and analytical thinking and ability to interpret public
health and epidemiological data. - Previous
experience in handling public health data
