established in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999 (Chapter 145, Laws of
Uganda). The Act empowers ERA to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Sale,
Export, Import-and Distribution of electrical energy in Uganda.
Auditor will support the Head of Internal Audit in developing and executing
ERA’s audit plan and take an active role in the day to day execution of
internal audits. The incumbent will actively contribute to the Internal Audit
function by identifying relevant risks associated with ERA’s objectives and
evaluating the controls in place to mitigate those risks in order to improve
the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the design of risk
based internal audit plans for the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) - Carry out periodic audits and risk
assessments of ERA operations in conformity with the Internal Audit work
plan - Appraise the adequacy of internal control
systems - Record internal audit process from
notification of auditees at commencement to closure of audits - Keep track of implementation of internal and
external audit findings and recommendations - Keenly analyze data and processes to
support improvement insights on the operations of ERA - Ensure that a compliance and risk culture
is embedded within the organization by means of appropriate training and
awareness initiatives - Participate in consulting and advisory
assignments undertaken by the internal audit function - Perform any other duties as may be
reasonably assigned.
Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the Electricity
Regulatory Authority (ERA) Internal Auditor job opportunity must hold an
Honors Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Economics or Business
Administration - The applicant must be a registered member
of Institute of Internal Auditors - At least three (3) years relevant experience
in Auditing - Uncompromising on integrity and ethics
- Competent in the use of internal audit
software - Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills - Innovative and proactive in addressing
audit challenges - Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Good report writing skills
- Possess good training and capacity
building skills - Keen attention to detail.
