DFCU bank is a fast growing commercial bank offering a variety of
innovative products and services. DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth
Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of
Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of
Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in
DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners
with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to
support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not
appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: The Human
Resources Business Partner – Consumer Banking will support the bank to achieve
its business objectives by providing guidance in all HR and staff related
matters through recruitment, line management support, retention, talent pool
development, performance management, succession planning and implementation of
HR Best Practice initiatives.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Conduct
    resource gap analysis in liaison with line managers and participate in the
    recruitment process to fill all critical positions in a timely manner to
    ensure business continuity at all times.
  • The
    jobholder will also oversee the talent pipeline within departments of
    jurisdiction to ensure career development of staff to develop, motivate
    employees and align reward to performance.
  • Plan
    and implement succession planning to ensure leadership continuity.
  • Carry
    out a skills analysis for all employees in liaison with the line
    managers and recommend training and development interventions to the
    Learning and Development Manager for the effective delivery of training
    solutions.
  • Conduct
    regular Job analysis within the allocated branches/head office
    unit, to ensure alignment of Job roles to clear accountabilities and
    optimal structures in order to enhance staff productivity.
  • Coordinate
    the performance management process in order to instil a performance
    culture in all staff and line managers.
  • Tasked
    with the implementation of HR policies and procedures and ensure
    compliance within the assigned branches/head office unit.
  • Provide
    advisory services to staff and line managers on employment legislation
    issues in consultation with the Head of HR and Legal department,
    spearhead and manage employee relations and ensure compliance by all
    parties.
  • Ensure
    staff engagement to boost morale and motivation within the allocated
    branches/head office unit.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the DFCU Human Resources
    Business Partner – Consumer Banking job placement should hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree preferably in Social
    Sciences or a business degree. A post graduate diploma in Human Resource
    Management will be an added advantage.
  • At
    least three years of professional experience in Human Resource Management
    in a competitive business environment.
  • Basic
    Knowledge in banking is mandatory
  • Excellent
    at strategy formulation.
  • Knowledge
    of HR Administration practice.
  • Broad
    knowledge and understanding of the HR policies, procedures and ability to
    interpret them to employees.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal, planning, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent
    communication skills both written, oral and be able to interact with
    employees at all levels.
  • Good
    knowledge of the labour laws of the Republic of Uganda.
  • Experience
    in developing and sustaining effective teamwork.
