programme, funded by Irish Aid. It is being implemented in 8 World Vision areas
of operation in Uganda, Tanzania, Mauritania and Sierra Leone from January 2017
– December 2021. The overall goal of the programme is to reduce neonatal and
infant mortality rates by 20% and maternal mortality ratios by 15% in each
programme area. This will be achieved through the promotion of illness
prevention, health promotion and health care seeking behaviour at household and
community levels, while also supporting Ministry of Health and local civil
society to identify and address gaps in maternal and child health service
provision. Digital health technology will also be embedded in this programme,
in line with Ministry of Health policy, to accelerate and amplify maternal and
child health outcomes.
Officer Aim Health Plus Project will use their technical skills in the application
of a set of MNCHN tools and techniques that assist people, no matter what their
abilities are, to be able to explore and express their aspirations and
preferences. The scope of this role covers from facilitation through to the
achievement of sustainable MNCHN outcomes. The role requires working with
people from a range of backgrounds and in a variety of community settings,
including a person’s home or neighbourhood, VHTs, Health facilities and local
CBOs. The incumbent will be tasked with the following;
- Coordinate all project activities at a
district level and monitoring progress towards achievement of targets. - Support the Team on all aspects of Newborn
Care, Goal Oriented ANC, Post Natal Care aspects, EmNOC its Signal
Functions and community based MNCH - Critically enrich the project team with
the social dynamics of communities in regard to MNCH, working with VHTs,
small groups like the Parent support Groups and community engagements. - Enhance the team with the Nutrition
aspects of the 1000 days, focusing on the community Nutrition intervention
and community management of acute malnutrition, kitchen gardening and
Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) for systems
Responsibilities:
- Steer the roll out of the MNCHN projects
in the Project site by ensuring that the projects are using the most
appropriate innovative and cost effective technologies. - Provide necessary technical guidance to
system’s partners during the course of the project
the DIP: The incumbent will ensure
that all MNCHN and other related deliverables are achieved according to the
detailed implementation plan.
- Works with the Project Manager in the
preparation of quality project reports are submitted on time to support
offices and donors. - Work with health staff and program
development team in the roll out of baseline surveys and evaluation of the
project, on the required basis - Manage the rollout of the MNCHN data
collection process at the community and health facility level
- Maintains records of activity
implementation as approved by the PM in a developed ToR - Produces monthly report that shows what
has been active and done in the project area - Manages allocated monies and organization
resources (such as phones, cameras, bus cards) as per agreed practices - Prepares for and participates in
evaluation projects when required - Participates in meetings and contribute to
organization development
and partners on collaborative work related to MNCH and other initiatives to
position World Vision as a strategic partner in mhealth landscape
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the World Vision Project
Officer AIM Health Plus Project job opportunity must hold a University
Degree in Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Technology or
a health related degree. - A minimum of two years’ experience working
in the area of Maternal Newborn and Child Health, Nutrition and health
care at any level of implementation - Previous exposure and experience in
working communities with good knowledge of public health system and
structures - Familiarity with the social determinants
of health and community dynamics. - Working knowledge of community based MNCH
integrated services - Broad knowledge of MNCH methodologies and
other related approaches - Excellent interpersonal communication and
counseling skills.
