About US:
Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) is a body corporate
established by the UPPC Act 1992 Cap.30 as a leading Government printer
mandated to provide printing and publishing facilities to the government
ministries, departments, and parastatal bodies .private companies, individuals and
organizations. The corporation prints and publishes all government legislation
and documents and undertakes security printing works.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Tasked with meeting clients or account
    managers to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job;
  • Responsible for interpreting the client’s
    business needs and developing a concept to suit their purpose;
  • Tasked with estimating the time required
    to complete the work and providing quotes for clients;
  • Developing design briefs by gathering
    information and data through research;
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas
    and concepts;
  • Using innovation to redefine a design
    brief within the constraints of cost and time;
  • Presenting finalized ideas and concepts to
    clients or account managers;
  • Working with a wide range of media,
    including photography and computer-aided design (CAD);
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and
    high-quality work;
  • Developing interactive design;
  • Actively contributing ideas and design
    artwork to the overall brief;
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with
    rough sketches;
  • Working on layouts and art working pages
    ready for print;
  • Staying abreast with emerging technologies
    in new media, particularly design programs such as InDesign, QuarkXPress,
    FreeHand, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3ds Max, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver
    and Flash;
  • Commissioning illustrators and
    photographers;
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    Degree in industrial art and design, Journalism, ICT plus on-job training.
    A diploma in any of the related fields is an added advantage
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a
    printing industry directly in designing.
  • Self Confidence
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Good IT skills
