dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for
the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter,
education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and
hygiene sectors.
Job Summary: The Finance
Officer will be primarily responsible for the cash flow, accounting and
financial reporting at Yumbe office
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • In charge of implementing financial
    systems and procedures according to Financial Handbook and other NRC
    policies at office level
  • Prepare bank accounts and cashbox
    reconciliations
  • Keenly verify that vouchers and supporting
    documents meet NRC standards before payment
  • Ensure timely payment of staff salaries,
    contractors, suppliers and other expenditures
  • Ensure sufficient cash in the bank and in
    the cash boxes
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial
    reports and send all relevant documents to country office
  • Ensure filing of all financial documents
    according to NRC standards
  • Mentor, train and develop financial staff
  • Support project staff in financial matters
  • Tasked with the induction to local
    partners and CBOs on NRC financial procedures
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee
    Council (NRC) Finance Officer job opportunity should hold a university
    degree, preferably business administration/financial management OR other
    relevant educational background combined with relevant professional
    experience. Experience from accounting and management may compensate for
    lack of formal education
  • Qualified finance professional with
    financial management experience within a complex global organization.
  • Significant experience working with
    windows-based computer software and modern accounting-systems
  • Ability to present complex financial
    information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Previous exposure and experience of
    developing and building capacity
  • Proven leadership abilities to lead and
    mentor teams remotely
  • Prior experience of working within strong
    control frameworks
  • Proven skills and experience in report
    writing
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of
    issues in complex emergencies and crisis contexts
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English
