Assistant
Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to support the Uganda Sanitation Fund (USF)
Programme. The USF overall objective is to contribute to the reduction of
morbidity and mortality rates through improved sanitation and hygiene
facilities, stopping open defecation and promoting handwashing with soap. The
project has been implemented in 30 districts and is expanding to eight more
districts, in the sub regions of Teso, Lango, West Nile and South Western
Uganda. The project is managed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) as the Executing
Agency and implemented by the District Local Governments as Sub Grantees.
Officer will provide technical support to Sub Grantees
Responsibilities:
- Support the Sub grantees prepare work
plans and budgets - Support field activities of sub-grantees
- Regularly monitor and support sub-grantee
activities - Quality assurance of work outputs of the
sub grantees - Tasked with verification of results
- Support Sub-grantees conduct capacity
building of lower local government level. - Take part in the review of sub-grantee
proposals - Participate in detailed capacity needs
assessment - Carry out capacity building of
sub-grantees to meet the skill requirements for Project implementation and
management. - Prepare and submit progress reports
- Perform any other duties as assigned by
the Technical Assistants.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a Bachelors’ degree in environmental health sciences, engineering, social
sciences, project planning and management or other relevant fields. - A minimum of five years’ experience in sanitation and hygiene promotion.
- Broad knowledge and experience of local
government systems and planning processes. - Field experience in the WASH sector.
- Age: Between 25 to 50 years
