implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene programs in the Lango, Acholi, West Nile and Karamoja regions in
Uganda.
Job Summary: The Construction
Supervisor will manage and participate in all ACF construction operations
including both internally completed and contracted works.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Oversee and ensure high quality work at all Action Against Hunger
construction sites:
  • Coordinate with ACF contractors to ensure
    appropriate timing for site visits.
  • Manage the construction of WASH facilities
    by ACF contractors and ensure they are following all drawings and
    specifications in line with ACF policies and procedures.
  • Prepare daily site visit reports for all
    construction works.
  • Propose ways to improve construction team
    efficiency and quality of work.
Document all activities in the field and produce construction reports:
  • Keep detailed field log of all activities
    done in field
  • Fill out daily field visit report when
    visiting construction sites and report all problems to supervisor(s)
  • Prepare weekly reports for team leader on
    the weeks accomplishments and challenges
  • Produce final construction report once
    construction at a site has been completed (including as-built drawings and
    updated specifications).
Assist in Water points construction:
  • Supervise Borehole drilling and
    installation of Handpumps and solar pumps.
  • Offer support in the construction of
    borehole slabs rehabilitated borehole sites.
  • Supervise the construction of cloths
    washing slabs, incinerators, drying areas among others.
  • Assist in any other construction
    activities that may be part of the ACF programs
Produce/Update construction documents as needed:
  • Produce BOQs, technical specifications,
    and drawings for latrines, pipes water systems, and any other projects ACF
    may get involved in
  • Regularly review construction documents
    before work begins and keep a log of any changes that need to be made in
    the future
Represent Action Against Hunger externally:
  • Represent ACF to District, UNHCR,
    communities and local leaders.
  • Ensure representation at the
    Infrastructure Committees at Settlement level
Perform any other duties asked of you to support the work of the water,
sanitation and hygiene team:
Supervision of fabricated latrine Slabs
construction
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant for the Action Against
    Hunger ACF Construction Supervisor job opportunity should preferably hold
    a Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering Preferred from a recognised
    institution of learning
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of at
    least 2 years in managing and supervising construction works
  • Excellent communication skills (both written
    and oral)English required, Excellent communication skills (written and
    oral); English and Local dialect (Kakwa, Kuku, Juba Arabic, Lugbara,
    Pojulu, Madi ) is required
  • Good computer skills including Excel,
    Word, AutoCAD
  • Previous exposure and experience with
    supervision of construction (structures)
  • Ability to produce Bills of Quantities
    (BOQs) and technical specifications
  • Ability to produce construction drawings
    using AutoCAD, Motorcycle Riding permit required.
  • The ideal candidate must be a resident or
    willing to reside in Yumbe
