organization focused on evaluation and implementation of behavioral
interventions in understudied countries and populations. Busara’s mission is to
work with researchers and organizations to advance and apply behavioral science
in pursuit of poverty alleviation. This involves the application of research
and rigorous methods to enable partners to improve program design, evaluate
existing programs, and optimize internal processes. To this end, Busara has
worked with a variety of organizations in an advisory capacity to apply
behavioral insights, build analytical models, and develop new products. In
addition, in its research center capacity, Busara operates a Nairobi-based lab
capable of implementing advanced experiments in psychology, behavioral
economics and other academic disciplines.
Consultant will work closely with the project associates based in the Nairobi
office in the provision of technical capacity building project led by Busara,
with a particular focus on developing Ugandan social development organizations’
capacity for research methods, evidence gathering, and program evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Nairobi-based project
associates with: - Tasked with designing training curricula,
- Responsible for designing evaluation
framework, - Implementing training curricula,
- Implementing evaluation framework,
- Writing interim and final reports.
- Facilitating individual and group-based
exercises. - Holding regular meetings and check-ins
with capacity-building partners. - Providing regular reports to the Nairobi
office. - Coordinating with other Busara Uganda team
members on field activities. - Some business development and outreach
activities.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a bachelors’ degree in a relevant field. - A minimum of two years’ experience working
in the non-profit sector in Uganda. - Prior experience in writing reports and
policy briefs is preferred. - Past experience with organizational
training and/or capacity building. - Excellent oral and written communication
skills in English. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability
to communicate with diverse range of stakeholders. - Excellent individual and group-based
exercise facilitation, and oral presentation skills. - Keen interest and familiarity in
evidence-based policy. Past experience in working on evidence-based policy
is preferred. - Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint is
preferred. - Interest and/or familiarity in behavioral
science or behavioral economics is preferred. - Have the following qualities: are diligent
and organized, have the ability to motivate and counsel others, have a
positive attitude, are active and respectful listeners, have strong
interpersonal skills, and have passion for community-based social work.
candidates shall be hired for a duration of 3 months, from 10th April
2017 to 10th July 2017, with opportunity for extension upon
performance review.
