Diseases Institute (IDI)
Nurse
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development.
IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:
Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services
(provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins
University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Institute (IDI) offers free Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision for HIV
prevention in the Mid-Western and West Nile regions of Uganda.
Mobilisers will lead site level community mobilization and demand creation
activities. The mobiliser will work with the SMC nurse, facility SMC focal
person, facility mobiliser and identify other key stakeholders for this
purpose.
- The incumbent will plan, design and
oversee the implementation of community mobilization and demand creation
activities for VMMC services in the assigned site. - The jobholder will also develop and
disseminate SMC and HIV prevention messages in appropriate local
languages. - Take part in the implementation of the
community mobilization and demand creation plan for VMMC services.
Experience:
- The applicant for the SMC Mobiliser job
placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree in Social Work and Social Administration, social sciences, Mass
communication or related field. - A minimum of three years of proven working experience in mobilizing
communities to utilize health services. - At
least two years of experience managing community mobilization teams - Excellent
oral presentation skills - Ability
to work with little or no supervision. - Possess
key personal competences in Team and communication skills, networking and
partnership skills. - Previous
experience in mobilization for SMC will be an added advantage.
