The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development.
IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:
Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services
(provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins
University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Job Summary: The Grants
Officer (Sub-Granting) will provide a range of support services to streamline
sub-grantee management processes and procedures. The GOs (Sub granting) maybe
required to be located at upcountry IDI Field Offices which provide
programmatic oversight of sub-grantees.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Financial and Administrative Support:
    • Supporting financial and
      administrative systems that service sub-grants throughout the sub-grant
      cycle;
    • Tasked with tracking sub-grantee
      documentation (including accountabilities and reports) within the IDI
      transaction cycle and ensuring that it is promptly given due attention;
      supporting routine and non-routine reviews of sub-grantee reports, and/or
      sub-grantee processes and systems across the sub-granting cycle;
    • Supporting the Finance Office
      in processing of ongoing subgrant-related transactions.          
  • Monitoring and tracking of sub-grantee
    compliance and outputs
    : Providing support in ongoing sub-grantee
    assessments and evaluations, including IDI and third party routine field
    reviews and audits.
  • Documentation: Continuously
    updating all sub-grantee manual and electronic documentation and archival
    material and ensuring that it is appropriately filed
  • Training & Capacity Building:
    Offering timely support for mentoring and training of sub-grantees
  • General: Any other duties
    specified by the IDI Head of Strategic Planning & Development.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in a business/ management area.
  • At least two years’ experience preferably
    with some experience of NGO sector sub-granting/sub-contracting)
  • Keen attention to detail and
    conscientiousness
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
    and proficiency in using MS Excel;
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking
    skills
