Regional VMMC Team Leader
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
Institute (IDI) offers free Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision for HIV
prevention in the Mid-Western and West Nile regions of Uganda.
Assistant will provide and support VMMC services in the districts of Arua,
Nebbi and Koboko. Flexibility to deployment and quick response to emergent
situations are a pre-requisite.
- The incumbent will ensure eligibility for
and assist circumcisers in conducting the circumcision procedure. - The SMC Assistant will provide immediate
post-operative care for clients. - Actively participate in the provision of
TT vaccinations for SMC Clients under the oversight of the EPI focal
person at supported sites in Koboko, Nebbi and Arua as appropriate. - Maintain client records as required
cognizant of standard ethical requirements. - Ensure that all procedures are carried out
safely in accordance with agreed policies
Experience:
- The applicant for the SMC Assistant job
placement should preferably have completed a registered Nurses Diploma
Training from a recognized institution - At least two years’ work experience in a
clinical and surgical setting - Additional training in HIV/AIDS and VMMC
will be an added advantage
