Refugee Council (NRC)
organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more
dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for
the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter,
education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and
hygiene sectors.
Officer – Food Security will work in liaison with the program team to ensure
effective coordination of livelihoods activities internally and with
beneficiaries of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Make sure of project compliance to NRC
program policy guidelines (SOPs) and M & E Framework, country and
regional and global strategies, and carry out data collection for M &
E Reporting. - Keenly monitor cash transfers and
agricultural food production activities. - Ensure community mobilization and
sensitization of community beneficiaries. - Ensure the beneficiary verification and
selection criteria is followed; i.e liaise with community leaders,
government structures and NRC set criteria. - Participate in capacity building trainings
and workshops organized by NRC, government and other partners at district
and grass root level. - Represent NRC in coordination meetings at
all levels of the project - Actively participate in monitoring and
evaluating project performance - Perform any other duty assigned by the
direct supervisor
Experience:
- The applicant for the Norwegian Refugee
Council (NRC) Project Officer – Food Security career vacancy should hold a
Bachelor of Agriculture, Social sciences, developments studies and other
related fields from a recognized university with a post graduate
qualification in Agriculture. - A minimum of three to five years’ experience
implementing or supervising livelihoods related projects. - Previous exposure and experience of
business development and preparation of training guidelines. - Broad knowledge and understanding of
emergency response, refugee context, development, marketing and finance is
desirable. - INGO experience is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of local culture and language
(Aringa/Lugbara. Swahili/Arabic and/or Kakwa). - Conversant with training and facilitation
skills. - An ideal candidate must be proactive and a
team player. - Computer knowledge in; MS word, Excel,
