About Us:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries established
an Agricultural Investment Unit under the Department of Agricultural Investment
and Enterprise Development. The major objective of the Unit is to assist in
coordinating and promoting agribusiness, with emphasis on value addition and
act as an initiative to link and create synergies between MAAIF (Public Policy
/ Regulation), the Private Sector and Development Partners on issues of
promoting agribusiness and value addition.
Job Summary: The Knowledge
Management Specialist will provide support in the implementation of the
knowledge management, communication strategy, provide technical support in
supervision of ICT related activities and institutionalize ICT processes within
MAAIF and advice on priority areas/issues requiring further attention and
investment of resources by the ministry and its partners.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Offer timely technical support in fast
    tracking implementation of the knowledge management strategy by setting
    and sequencing priority activities under periodical work plans;
  • Actively facilitate information processes
    and systems that catalyze and inspire collaboration between MAAIF and
    other key partners/ stakeholders aimed at generating better development
    solutions in the agricultural sector;
  • Develop a Result-Based Monitoring (RBM)
    tool against which the knowledge management and communication strategy can
    continuously be monitored and evaluated;
  • Prepare timely and quality progress and
    implementation reports for submission to MAAIF.
  • Act as a process facilitator in the
    development of an e-agriculture strategy;
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant for the Knowledge Management
    Specialist job opportunity should hold an Honors’ Bachelor’s Degree in
    Knowledge Management, Information Communication Technology, Information
    Science, Organizational Development, Public Administration or Social
    Sciences from a recognized Institution.
  • A minimum of three years’ working
    experience in management innovations, communication and business
    information systems technological innovations for information and
    communication in agribusinesses; or related fields in government or
    reputable Organization.
  • Proven skills and experience especially in systems design and computer
    programming;
  • Excellent
    track record of agricultural information research
  • Previous
    experience in developing
  • Experience
    in project management, strategic communication and public relations;
  • Experience
    working with diverse groups of people.
  • Good
    management and leadership skills;
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good
    planning skills;
  • Team
    work;
  • Computer/
    ICT skills;
  • Proactive
    with the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Good
    communication skills (both oral and written);
  • Good
    data collection and analysis skills
  • Good
    records management skills
