Job Summary: The Head of
Social Development will;
  • Oversee and manage all social development
    work and activities within Revelation Life.
  • Manage and co-ordinate all Social
    Development Workers, meeting with them regularly.
  • Develop and co-ordinate the Social
    Champions programme.
  • Co-ordinate social development training to
    Communty Groups.
  • Contribute and advise on social
    development activities at the Family Centre.
  • Work with team members to help families
    see improvements in family and neighbourhood situations.
  • Ensure that the Social Development
    Department is working efficiently and successfully, that objectives are
    met and that the department is working within the Revelation Life values
    and Ugandan law.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Work together with department, Heads of
    Department and community members to set strategy and objectives for social
    development work.
  • Co-ordinate training to Community Groups
    on various social issues.
  • Co-ordinate the Social Champion programme
    through co-ordinating:
  • Application
    process:
    • Promotion of the Champion
      programme in Community Groups and in the wider communities
    • Information for potential
      Champions about the details of the programme
    • Assessment and agreement
      meetings with potential Champions
  • Training:
    • Writing and presenting
      trainings to Champions with support from department
    • Managing the programme
      teaching schedule with support from department
  • Monitoring:
    • Monitoring and evaluating
      interventions, supporting staff and Champions on relevant cases
    • Ensuring reporting is carried
      out and done in a timely manner
  • Supervision:
    • Ensuring that department
      members oversee a certain number of Champions on a regular basis
    • Work with Social Development
      Workers to regularly monitor and evaluate progress with intervention
      cases.
    • Ensure that department
      members are successfully co-ordinating with representatives from the
      Community Development and Community Health departments.
    • Provide advice to Family
      Centre team to develop strategy, assessments and objectives.
    • Build relationships with key
      stakeholders relevant to social development work in designated
      communities.
    • Actively seek relevant
      training opportunities for all team members.
    • Network and work closely with
      related organisations.
    • Help to set and take
      responsibility for budgets for all social development work.
    • Oversee the development of
      the Discipleship Programme. Build good social work practice within the
      organisation, in line with Ugandan laws and policies. Conduct the
      department in line with Ministry of Gender requirements and co-ordinate
      Quarterly Reports.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should possess a
    qualification in social work or a related field
  • Prior experience/training in counselling
  • Facilitative leadership and excellent
    communication
  • Ability to manage a team well
  • Ability to delegate tasks well
  • Ability to plan and act strategically
  • Experience and training in social
    work/development
  • Good management, negotiation and people
    skills
  • Good skills for dealing with stress
  • Ability to deal with time urgent cases and
    prioritise well
  • Ability to deal with difficult and
    sensitive situations
  • Good record keeping and administration
    skills
  • Good understanding of policies and
    referral processes
  • Works well with agreed budgets
  • Works well across departments
  • A high level of integrity and maturity
  • A passion for working with people through
    social development
  • A strong, active relationship with the
    Lord, which affects your everyday life
  • Committed, punctual and reliable
