organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
responsible for the security of vehicle fleet, provide technical input in the
development of the fleet management policy, guidelines and standard operating
procedures, maintain fleet database, maintain fleet maintenance database,
reconcile fuel consumption and provide technical advice to management on issues
relating to fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical input in the development
of IDI fleet management policy, guidelines and Standard Operating
Procedures - Put in place measures to ensure the safety
of vehicles and their accessories - Actively participate in the new Drivers’
selection and training process - Maintain a centralized fleet maintenance
database, fuel usage and accountabilities - Assist in maintaining a record of fleet
movements - Make regular checks on Drivers’ permits,
vehicle insurance and other vehicle requirements - Make arrangements for vehicles to be
licensed as required by law - Provide support supervision to the Fleet
management - Arrange for the provision of logistical
support to drivers - Process requests for repair and service
works - Develop a fuel consumption log system that
can fully reconcile with mileage travelled in line with the manufacturer’s
driving recommendations - Review fuel consumption for hired vehicles
and special hire transport requests - Review submitted quotations from approved
garages for repairs and service works against a mechanical background - Appraise fleet management assistant and
drivers - Provide technical advice to management on
issues relating to fleet control, maintenance and efficiency. - Prepare periodic reports on the transport
function and submit them to the Operations Manager - Perform any other duties as may reasonably
be assigned.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
Diploma in motor vehicle engineering or its equivalent - Additional training in fleet management
- Application of technology to Fleet
management - Possession of a valid Driving Permit with
relevant classes - Training in Defensive Driving Minimum
Experience and Exposure - At least five years as a Driver and a
practicing Mechanic in line with the outcome of this vacancy - Knowledge of traffic laws and rules
