About Us:
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries derives its
mandate from the constitution of the republic of Uganda; the Local Governments
Act, (1997), and the Public Service reform Programme (PSRP). The mandate is to
create an enabling environment in the Agricultural Sector.
Job Summary: The Driver
(Light Vehicles) will support the “Improving Access and Use of Agricultural
Equipment and Mechanization through use of Labour Saving Technologies” Project
by being be responsible for driving/ operation, managing, and maintaining
project vehicles in accordance with the transport policy and as directed by the
supervising officer.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Driving vehicles for official duty and
    assignments;
  • Performing basic maintenance and
    cleanliness of the vehicle;
  • In charge of reporting major technical
    mechanical faults to the supervising officer;
  • Maintaining basic records regarding the
    vehicles as instructed; and
  • Ensuring the safety of the vehicle while
    on duty.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should be a Ugandan in
    possession of a Uganda Certificate of Education with a pass in English
    Language.
  • Possess a valid and clean driving record
    and driving permit class B.
  • Additional training in Defensive driving
    will be an added advantage.
  • At least two years’ experience in driving.
  • Basic
    Knowledge of mechanical and vehicle maintenance;
  • Possess
    a clean driving record;
  • Good
    public relations and customer care skills
  • Good
    time management skills
  • High
    degree of flexibility.

at the time of sitting the oral interviews. Applicants who shall not hear from
the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, on completion of
the selection exercise should consider themselves as unsuccessful.
