About US:
Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), a statutory agency is mandated to
initiate and support measures that enhance investment in Uganda and to advise
Government on appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and
growth in the country.
Job Summary: The Deputy
Executive Director will assist the Executive Director in the day to day
management and administration of the authority and also serve as the main point
of contact for internal stakeholders and for negotiations with both government
and donors
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Deputizing for the Executive Director
    whenever the latter is out of office /on leave.
  • Providing effective leadership in the
    preparation of the annual work plans of the technical departments under
    the DED’s direct supervision.
  • The jobholder will ensure effective day to
    day management of the authority • operations based on clear policies,
    systems and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with staff
    to provide on -going technical support and guidance to keep them  abreast with program needs, success
    factors, challenges and new developments
  • Ensure timely availability or resources
    and tool to support all authority operations
  • Ensuring implementation of approved work
    plans.
  • Manage the development and implementation
    of a monitoring plan to ensure that all indicators are tracked on a
    regular basis as per the approved logical framework matrix in the
    strategic plan.
  • Providing competent advice, guidance and
    mentoring to the technical departments under the DED’s direct supervision.
  • In charge of monitoring, evaluating and
    reporting performance outcomes of the technical departments.
  • Ensure that all operations of the
    authority are in compliance with financial, procurement and other
    administrative policies and procedures
  • Providing support to The ED in the
    execution of his/her duties including implementation of approved policies
    and program activities.
Key Results Areas:
  • Consolidated annual work plans for UIA’s
    technical operations formulated and approved.
  • Approved work plans being effectively
    implemented and monitored.
  • Timely performance reports submitted to
    the ED.
  • Timely submission to HR division of
    appraisal reports for all staff under the DED.
  • Effective leadership of the Authority
    rendered whenever so delegated by the ED.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Master’s Degree in Business and/or Public Administration and Management
    or the equivalent
  • Possession of a Postgraduate Diploma n
    General Management OR Human Resource Management, Financial Management
    .Project Management or the equivalent
  • A well-demonstrated entrepreneurial mind
    and spirit
  • Broad knowledge of the global and Ugandan
    business and investment environment
  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in
    top/senior management involving strategic thinking and planning, team
    building, direction and supervision
  • Proven experience with planning,
    implementation and coordination of institutional work plans, projects and
    programs
  • Strong communication, networking, advocacy
    and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
