About USAID CHC Project:
Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five- year program
implemented through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency
for International Development USAID/Uganda) and FHI 360. The project is
designed to support the Government of Uganda and partners to design and
implement quality health communication interventions to contribute to reduction
in HIV Infections, total fertility, maternal & child mortality,
malnutrition, malaria & tuberculosis. CHC works with Ministry of Health and
partners to rollout a nationwide OBULAMU integrated health communication
platform through: Mass media; outdoor media; social and digital media; and,
inter personal communication (IPC).
Job Summary: The
Inter-Personal Communication (IPC) Supervisors will support implementing
partners and districts in the implementation of various OBULAMU Interpersonal
Communication Activities throughout the country. The IPC supervisors will be
based in the nine CHC regional offices and will be supervised by the Regional
Technical Officers (RTO’s), who will provide overall guidance and framework
within which key tasks and duties will be executed. The IPC Supervisors will
directly work with district health teams and Implementing partners to plan,
implement and evaluate a series of community activations in form of; community
drives, mass mobilization, targeted community and small-group activations and
liaise with community champions who conduct regular home visits and one-on-one
discussions.  These activations will be
conducted in areas with poor health indicators and seek to address critical
gaps in knowledge, motivation, risk perception, skills and norms that affect
uptake of health services among various target groups in Uganda including;
adolescent girls and young women, boys, young adults in relationships, pregnant
women and their male partners, caretakers of children under five, People Living
with HIV, fisher folk, Female Sex workers, among others
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicants for the USAID FHI360
    Inter-Personal Communication (IPC) Supervisor jobs must hold Bachelor’s
    degrees in mass communication, public health, social sciences or a related
    field.
  • Good spoken and written English language
    skills;
  • Excellent Interpersonal Communication
    Skills, vibrant personality and ability to relate freely with rural
    people.
  • Previous experience of community
    mobilization in Health Communication
  • Hard working with ability to work under
    minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt and work in challenging,
    demanding and hard to reach environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a
    high volume work flow
  • Previous experience in implementing
    OBULAMU campaign IPC activities is an added advantage
  • Good Computer skills
  • Previous knowledge and experience in
    conducting community dialogues, drama and pulling the crowds using music
    and dance
  • Fluency in the regional languages
    indicated below;
