African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a
non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and non-profit making
organization with the main aim of protecting and seeking durable solutions for
Refugees and IDPs in Africa in partnership with UNHCR the UN refugee agency.
Job Summary: The Auto
Mechanical Engineer will be analyzing mechanical problems for all project
vehicles and fixing them aiming at maximum reliability and functionality.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Inspect vehicle engines to diagnose issues
    accurately
  • Carry out routine maintenance works for
    project vehicles to improve vehicle functionality.
  • Schedule future maintenance sessions and
    advise drivers on good usage of vehicles
  • Provide accurate estimates for repair of
    project vehicles
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good
    condition.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Degree in
    Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of three years working
    experience in a similar field
  • Possess a good understanding and
    experience of mechanics with high level of understanding of all vehicle
    types.
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Ability to travel to any part of the
    country
  • Ability to work for long hours
  • Ability to observe all safety precautions
    for protection against accidents.
