U.S. PEPFAR
(MRC/UVRI) based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe is a
bilateral multi-disciplinary research organization funded by, the Medical
Research Council (UK) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in
Uganda under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and
other donor agencies. Established in 1988, the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on
AIDS is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research on HIV
infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the revolving
epidemic, the evaluation of innovative health care options, treatment and
prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa and
worldwide.
supports and facilitates the conducting of daily clinical study/trial
activities according to Good Clinical Practice and provides medical care to
study participants
Responsibilities:
- Provide
follow-up assessment and medical care to study participants. - Actively
participate in protocol development, reviews and preparation for
ethics and regulatory submissions. - Provide
appropriate training and mentorship to study clinic team. - Significantly
contribute to development and implementation of participant recruitment
strategies. - Screen
participants for study eligibility. - Coordinate
participant tests and procedures and collect data as required by the
protocol - Identify
adverse events and complete appropriate CRFs - Take
part in data cleaning exercises as required. - Presentation
and attending MRC/UVRI science seminars and scientific conferences. - Maintain
an effective and ongoing communication with study team, Investigators and
sponsors - Manage
the daily study clinic activities including problem solving, communication
and protocol management. - In
charge of participating in strategic planning and generating ideas for new
research studies - Significantly
contribute to research through writing of scientific papers as required. - Complete
any other task or as may be assigned by management
Experience:
- The applicant for the Study Pediatrician
job opportunity should preferably hold an MMED (Paediatrics) - Good
clinical practice (GCP) training - Previous
experience in research especially managing patients that have received an
Investigational New Drug (IND) - Prior
experience in managing adolescents - Supervision
skills - Excellent
computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office packages - Organized
with excellent attention to detail
