Job Title:      Project Driver
Organisation: Ministry of

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda
Reports to:  Project Focal Contact Manager
About US:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with
the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (Responsible Party),
Ministry of Water and Environment (Lead Implementing Partner) and other
Stakeholders are implementing Inclusive Green Growth for Poverty Reduction
Programme, 2016 to 2020.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Ensures provision of reliable and secure
    driving services by driving office vehicle for the transport of authorized
    personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other related
    goods and supplies in/out of Kampala under the authorization of the
    supervisor.
  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of
    vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of
    inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • The incumbent ensures proper day-to-day
    maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs,
    arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires,
    brakes, car washing, etc.
  • The Driver ensures availability of all the
    required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs,
    office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary
    spare parts.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions
    required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in
    accidents.
  • Collect mail from Post Office and deliver
    outgoing mails to various destinations within the city.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate must hold a Uganda
    Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English language.
  • At least five years’ work experience as a
    driver; safe driving record;
  • He/She must possess Valid Driver’s license
    of at least 3 classes.
  • Certificate in Mechanics is an added
    advantage
  • Possess a Clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of driving rules and
    regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of
    driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs
  • Takes specific steps to evaluate how time
    is used and to eliminate time wastage
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of
    protocol
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of
    security issues
  • Responds positively to critical feedback
    and differing points of views
