Programmes
Non-Governmental organisation founded in 2009 to advocate for the rights of the
most vulnerable members of our society. It is dedicated to promoting and
advancing justice, tolerance and human rights in Uganda. It is implementing the
“Promoting peaceful and harmonious families in Omoro district” project.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, community mobilization and
implementation of sub county project activities in accordance with the
work plan, proposal and relevant tools. - Ensure the timely documentation and
reporting on progress of activities as required on a periodic basis. - Provide diligent leadership to community
activists on the project through motivation and ensuring that they execute
their duties. - Identify and liaise with various
stakeholders to ensure that intimate partner violence is eradicated. - Actively participate in conferences and
meetings related to Gender Based Violence prevention on behalf of the
organisation. - Exercise due diligence in performance of
his duties and perform all other work that may incidental to the above as
may be assigned from time to time. - Ensure effective communication and links
with target communities, groups, agencies, departments and organisations; - Attend and participate in existing
networks and forums for addressing issues and concerns of communities
living in and around project area; - Collect statistical information regarding
the IPV and contribute to quarterly reports to MCJL; - Undertake other duties related to
administrative tasks such as filing, typing own letters and documents,
answering the telephone and providing general information about MCJL; - Other project-related duties as delegated
by the direct supervisor
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Project Co-ordinator
– GBV Project must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Social Sciences, Education or Development studies. - Possession of a Post graduate training in
Gender / SASA faith approaches is an added advantage. - At least two years of experience in
conducting community education (through sensitisation, awareness raising
workshops and trainings) and responding to and supporting community
initiatives, including using SASA and gender mainstreaming approaches; - Actively seeks new ways of improving
project services and activities - Expands responsibilities while maintaining
existing ones - Actively encourages others to consider new
ideas and is open to new ideas from others - Proactively develops new ways to resolve
problems - Actively identifies opportunities for and
promotes organisational change. - Presents goals as shared interests.
- Works independently and as a part of a
team with a holistic collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to meet
organisational goals. - Knowledge of Islamic family law.
- Knowledge of rights of women in Islam.
- Application should, have at least 3
referees. - Possess skills in accounting for programme
funds. - Should be capable of communicating in
Acholi as the local language.
