organization that promotes demonstration and widespread adoption of improved
pre and post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers in
Uganda in collaboration with relevant government institutions, farmers’
organizations and the private sector.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Thematic Co-ordinator in
planning and budgeting; - Strengthen the capacity of farmer based
organizations (FBOs) in organisational management and leadership; - Strengthen the Village Savings and loan
schemes (VSLAs) among FBOs and monitor their performance - Guide development of viable commodity
business plans among FBOs - Develop and maintain linkages between and among Farmers/FBOs /processors/
small & medium enterprises (SMEs) to finance institutions, inputs and
output markets - Establish, maintain and manage a database
on public private partnerships (PPP) - Ensure regular communication/coordination
and exchange of experiences between Farmers/ FBO and key actors along the
value chain. - Offer technical support to SG2000 Program
in gender mainstreaming - Prepare activity and periodic progress
reports - Any other related duties assigned.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a BSc Agri-business, Rural Development, Agriculture extension or any other
related field; - At least five years of relevant
experience. - Skills in the development of training
modules/manuals, agribusiness plans, training, facilitation and
presentation.
