networking alliance and service organization that brings together field
epidemiology training programs (FETPs) across Africa working side by side with
Ministries of Health, regional and international partners. AFENET works to
strengthen epidemiological and disease surveillance capabilities of African
countries that are critical to meeting the requirements of the Integrated
Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy and the International Health
Regulations (IHR).
Strengthening the Uganda Ministry of Health Capacity to Execute its Essential
Public Health Functions through Provision of Technical Assistance and Public
Health Workforce Development and Institutional Capacity Building in the
Republic of Uganda, under PEPFAR.
Officer -Condom Promotion / Community (ACP) will oversee and guide the
promotion of condom use for HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection prevention
in the country.
Responsibilities:
- In charge of participating in the
formulation of technical policies and guidelines for condom promotion and
distribution in the country - Offering timely technical assistance to
implementing partners, districts and facilities who support condom
promotion and distribution using a variety of approaches - Participating in the development of
training and instructional materials and in capacity building activities
targeting districts, facilities, and other health workers at various
levels - Participating in the development of
relevant work plans and implementation of activities - Preparing programme and activity reports
as well as other programmatic reports - Working closely with NDA and other
relevant institutions to ensure quality of condom supplies at all levels. - Working with relevant technical units and
institutions to quantify and project condom needs for the country. - Liaising with social marketing
organizations and other implementing partners to develop condom brands
plus promotional spots and programs.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Education, Social Sciences or any
other related and relevant field - Possession of a Master’s Degree in any of
the above fields. - Possession of a post graduate
qualification in Behavior Change Communication or Social Marketing will be
an added advantage - A minimum of three years relevant working
experience in health promotion or social marketing at national or regional
level. - Well versed with current national and
global HIV prevention strategies and plans. - Demonstrable knowledge and skills in
condom promotions. - Good team player with good negotiation,
interpersonal, networking and communication skills. - Familiarity with commonly used computer
packages e.g. PowerPoint, Ms Word, Internet and Ms Excel - Hands on skills in planning and good
understanding of the strategic direction of MoH and PEPFAR programmes
