About Us:
The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under
Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013
and incorporated under the Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability
company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC
is; “To handle the State’s Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”
Job Summary: The Digital and
Social Media Specialist will primarily develop, implement and execute various
digital & social media activities for UNOC in line with company objectives.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Coordinate and deliver digital and social
    media related projects to the business
  • The jobholder will manage the development
    of a company website
  • Provide support on all social media
    initiatives including generating adequate social elements and adherence to
    standards.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain up-to-date
    digital online platforms for the UNOC.
  • Manage Digital Marketing campaigns.
  • Undertake social/digital data analytics to
    identify information gaps that could aid in improving communication
    strategy.
  • Regularly monitor trends in social media
    tools, applications, channels, design and strategy and identify
    opportunities for UNOC.
  • Become an advocate for the company in
    social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where
    appropriate.
  • Map out a comprehensive digital marketing
    plan. Drive strategies that are proven by testing and metrics.
  • Identify threats and opportunities in
    user-generated content surrounding the company.
  • Report notable threats to appropriate
    management.
  • Develop procedure and remedial actions for
    digital damage control
  • Regularly monitor effective benchmarks for
    measuring the impact of social media campaigns.
  • Analyse, review, and report on effectiveness
    of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.
  • Set up and optimize company pages within
    each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content
     
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology,
    communications, media or public relations.
  • At least four years proven working
    experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist.
  • Adequate knowledge of web design, web
    development, CRO and SEO.
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good
    understanding of major marketing channels
  • Demonstrable social networking experience
    and social analytics tools knowledge.
  • Previous experience sourcing and managing
    content development, publishing and online reputation management.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and
    understanding of social media platforms
  • Excellent writing and language skills
  • Enjoys a working knowledge of the blogging
    ecosystem relevant to the company’s field
  • Possesses functional knowledge and/or
    personal experience with WordPress
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer
    oriented with good multitasking and organisational ability.
  • High degree of professionalism to ensure
    that the companies image is protected.
