About USAID Project:
EngenderHealth seeks to implement an anticipated five-year USAID
project named, Expanding and Strengthening Family Planning Service Options in
Uganda.  The goal of the project is to
increase use of equitable, quality and sustainable family planning (FP)
services through increased FP service delivery options and demand for modern
contraception including long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs) and permanent
methods (PMs). Cross cutting themes include gender programing and youth sexual
reproductive health (SRH) services.
Job Summary: The Finance and
Administration Officer is responsible for managing financial functions
including budgeting, financial reporting, and financial management of
subawardees.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
  • The applicant should be a certified public
    accountant with the equivalent professional qualifications, with a
    Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field.
  • At least five years’ experience as a
    financial officer, preferably in a multi-office environment, is required.
  • Significant experience with USAID
    financial reporting and management, as well as managing sub-awards and
    grants to local NGOs, is preferred.
  • S/he must have experience in financial
    systems implementation and coordinating financial field office operations
    in developing countries.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting
    software programs such as QuickBooks, SAGE, and Excel are a must along
    with proficiency in creating and using spreadsheets, general ledger
    accounting packages, database and word processing software.
  • Ability to work longer hours during peak
    times such as the year-end close and preparation for audit is required.
  • Excellent past performance references are
    required (references must be provided, including email addresses).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
