We are a non-denominational, non-governmental and non-political
organisation. GOAL Uganda country project focuses on two of GOAL’s three
strategic sectors: Health (including WASH and health accountability
programming); and Livelihoods. GOAL Uganda mainstreams HIV, gender, child
protection and the environment/DRR across all programming. GOAL works on a
district focused approach, and uses a mixture of direct implementation and
partnerships with local civil society organisations, private sector partners
and District Local Government to give effect to our mission.
Officer – Software will be responsible for carrying out all demand responsive
approach activities, project reporting and monitoring. The incumbent will
ensure that all interventions are carried out in a manner that corresponds to
the standards and guidelines of the Government of Uganda for WASH as well as
donor guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Develop,
review and revise project work plans whenever the needs occur. - Undertake
roll out of CLTS activities in project areas so as to ensure that
communities attain Open defecation free status (ODF) status. - The
incumbent will develop sanitation and hygiene promotion sessions and I.E.C
materials as well as materials to promote safe WASH practices,
including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services. - Co-ordinate
and carry out training of water user committees in targeted areas on
proper operation and maintenance of water points. - Coordinate
with water technical officers to ensure that the various aspects of
the WASH program are integrated. - Prepare
weekly planning and updates to share within Senior WASH Programme Manager
and WASH Advisor. - Follow-up,
spot check on-going activities for quality control; prepare periodical
reports: update indicators, achievements, activities and results
according to the project log frame.
Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the GOAL International WASH Officer – Software
job opportunity should hold a University
degree in public health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or related
discipline. Experience may substitute for qualifications, but not
the other way round. - At
least two years of field experience with a strong focus on sanitation and
hygiene promotion approaches like CLTS, Sanitation marketing, operation
and maintenance of water points. - Demonstrated
ability to work effectively with a wide range of WASH programs - Prior
knowledge and experience of issues related to behaviour change in WASH. - Good
monitoring and evaluation skills - Ability
to write clear and well-argued project reports - Fluency
in Kiswahili, Lusamya and Lusoga is an added advantage - Possession
of a riding permit (Class A) and ability to ride a motor cycle is required
for this job.
