Job Summary:   The Project Officer, Child Protection will
provide ongoing, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting in
regard to the execution of the Emergency child protection activities- ensure
those children (and their care givers) refugee settlement regain access to safe
living environments and are protected from harmful abuse to rebuild their
livelihoods that contributes to their recovery and development. 
Qualifications, Skills and
  • The ideal candidate for the Save the
    Children Project Officer, Child Protection job placement should hold a
    Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Bachelor of Arts, Education,
    Development Studies, Psychology, Child Development, Child Psychology,
    Community Psychology,  any  equivalent accrued working experience in
    a related position
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in programme
    development and implementation with an NGO. Relevant experience
    implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluating community based child
    protection projects with NGOs particularly those addressing children’s
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of child
    rights issues and child rights instruments.
  • Specific familiarity with child rights
    issues in the NGO world or work.
  • Ability to interact with communities;
    children and adults as well as other stakeholders at sub-county and
    district levels.
  • One year of experience in financial,
    planning and budget management.
  • Effective interpersonal  skills – oral and written communication
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Past exposure and experience of working with
    local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
    Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic
    planning abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive
    collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Computer literacy and excellent
    documentation skills are a must.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and
    ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse
    backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis
    management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and
    communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent time management and planning
  • Availability and willingness to work extra
    hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Willingness to travel and work in
    hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
