organization dedicated to work with children and families in Uganda, to rise
above their daily pressing needs. The Vision of ARD is community where children
and families are able to live their full potential. Its mission is to Work with
children and families to partake their rights and promote social
transformation. In doing this, it focuses on issues of child health, child
rights and family livelihoods that affect families in rural and hard to reach
areas in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Project
Statistician will provide professional support to research studies to include
data collection assistance in the establishment of data collection instruments
and protocol, data analysis/manipulation and management, computer
systems/applications programming and analysis and reporting.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • In charge of determining the types of analysis required to establish a
    magnitude of success of program interventions in agriculture, WASH,
    Nutrition and HIV/AIDS and TB.
  • Providing
    technical expertise in the areas of program development, data base design,
    data collection and dissemination.
  • Consolidating data, processing it and
    producing regular routine and adhoc reports required by management.
  • The
    jobholder will plan and document computer data file structure; develop,
    program, manage and perform or supervise data entry.
  • Select
    data samples, prepares questionnaires and surveys and conducts
    logic checks to maintain data quality.
  • Uses
    existing statistical software and a variety of established statistical
    methods to gather, analyse and interpret research data to derive useful
    information for research studies.
  • Actively
    participate with other statisticians in the development of statistical
    methodology, study, and design and data analysis.
  • Offer
    support in project planning and management with clients and other staff
    members.
  • Performs
    miscellaneous job related.     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Degree in BSc statistics.
  • At
    least two years of professional working in the same in a similar
    position.
  • Working
    knowledge of statistical packages and applications i.e. SPSS, Epi Data,
    Epi info
  • Previous
    experience in managing community based data collection, analysis,
    presentation and reporting.
  • Skills
    in data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge
    of using of evidence based results, planning, implementation and
    reporting.
  • Knowledge
    and experience of managing rapid social appraisals using study protocols
    like LQAS.
  • Skills
    in database design and management.
