Job Summary: The Driver’s
main responsibility is to provide safe and timely transportation of BTC
personnel, equipment/supplies as well as maintain the assigned vehicle in good
mechanical condition.

- Drive BTC staff who are based in Kampala,
on a daily basis to any destination related to their work; - Accompany staff on missions outside of
Kampala; - The jobholder will also deliver all the
parcels, letters and messages; - The Driver will report immediately to the
Finance and Administrative Officer any damage caused to the vehicle by any
means; - Drive the assigned vehicle in accor-dance
with Ugandan regulations and with due consideration and respect for the
safety of vehicle users and the public in general; - Report immediately to the Finance and
Administration Officer any incidents or accidents in which the vehicle is
involved; - Report immediately any defects observed
and needs of servicing of the vehicle; - Ensure that no unauthorized persons enter
the vehicle without the express permission of the authorised staff; - Ensure that the vehicle is not used for
unauthorized purposes without the express permission of authorised staff; - Ensure proper management and safety of the
vehicle under his custodianship; - The incumbent will maintain the vehicle’s
cleanliness; - Maintain an updated logbook for the
vehicle at all times and ensure that it is submitted to the Accountant for
accountabilities; - Ensure vehicle maintenance records are in
place and clearly displayed; - Ensure that all licenses, taxes and
insurances are paid and up to date prior to entering the vehicle; - Ensure that all passengers entering the
vehicle are treated in a courteous manner; - Perform any other task as assigned by
authorised staff.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant must hold an O’ level
Certificate with a valid driving permit of classes: A, B, E, CM, CH, DL
and DM - At least seven years’ experience driving
with International Agencies or Development Partners - Knowledge of defensive driving
- Working knowledge of basic automotive
maintenance and first aid - Different routes around the country
- Ability to trouble shoot and detect
anomalies with the car - Communicate effectively both orally and in
writing - Understand and follow oral and written
instructions - Determine the most safe and convenient
routes around the country - Time conscious
- Honest and trustworthy
- Highly organized
- Patient
- High degree of confidentiality
- Reliable
- High degree of flexibility
