Action for Relief and Development is a community development
organization dedicated to work with children and families in Uganda, to rise
above their daily pressing needs. The Vision of ARD is community where children
and families are able to live their full potential. Its mission is to Work with
children and families to partake their rights and promote social
transformation. In doing this, it focuses on issues of child health, child
rights and family livelihoods that affect families in rural and hard to reach
areas in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Counsellor will
be supporting ART and Child Survival.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Identification
    of people living with HIV/AIDS/TB, pregnant mothers and children below
    1000 days.
  • Conduct
    index contact tracing (ICT) for HIV/AIDS/TB, pregnant mothers and
    children below 1000 days.
  • Linkage
    to ART services through the Food – based Approach promoted by ARD/ORDS
  • Supporting
    adherence to and retention on ART (for HIV/AIDS/TB), pregnant mothers and
    children below 1000 days.
  • Strengthening
    the Health Facility data system to follow up lost to follow clients.
  • Supervision
    of ART Clinics and follow up activities.
  • Initiating
    food based approach activities both at Health Facility and household
    levels.
  • In
    charge of data collection.
  • Any
    other activities assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should at least hold a first degree in Social Sciences,
    Humanities, Education, Rural Development and Development studies.
  • Professional
    training in HIV/AIDS and TB or Nutrition is a MUST.
  • Previous
    exposure and experience in working with community HIV/AIDS and TB
    models promoted by TASO, Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), MoH etc is
    an added advantage.
  • Working
    knowledge in HIV/AIDS counselling with a bias in ART and Nutrition.
  • Knowledge
    in community mobilization.
  • Computer
    literacy skills
  • Driving
    skills
  • Supporting
    community based networks
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills.
