USAID Strengthening Human Resources for Health (SHRH) Project
than 100 countries, IntraHealth International has empowered health workers to
better serve communities in need. IntraHealth fosters local solutions to health
care challenges by improving health worker performance, strengthening health
systems, harnessing technology, and leveraging partnerships. In collaboration
with governments, nongovernmental organizations, and private- sector
organizations around the world, IntraHealth champions the needs and
contributions of health workers—from doctors and nurses to community health workers
to health facility managers—and works to ensure they have the tools, supplies,
information, training, and support they need to provide communities they serve
with the best possible opportunity for health and well-being.
Strengthening Human Resources for Health (SHRH) project is to strengthen the
capacities of central ministries, districts, health professional councils, PNFP
and health training institutions to effectively and efficiently plan, manage
and utilize the health workforce; and strengthen systems for sustained health
worker performance to improve health outcomes for the people of Uganda.
Program Officer, Knowledge Management and External Communications will be
tasked with ensuring effective communication for the SHRH project and raise its
profile with external audiences. The Program Officer will be responsible for
documenting and disseminating key program achievements to various stakeholders
including USG and non USG development partners, government departments and the
general population. The Program Officer will be responsible for documenting and
reporting on program activities through a variety of media outlets, including
newspapers and the internet.
Work
closely with program senior management to develop a SHRH strategic
communication and documentation plan and oversee its implementation
The
incumbent will also identify key program areas for documentation and
dissemination
Take
lead in the documentation of key program achievements including writing,
success stories, news briefs and blogs
Support
project staff on all technical presentations and reports to ensure polished
final products with appropriate USG and project branding.
Offer
technical support to program staff to increase visibility of key program events
Build
staff capacity in documentation and communication
Perform
any other assigned duties
The
ideal candidate for the USAID Intra Heath International Project Program
Officer, Knowledge Management and External Communications should hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, mass media, journalism, social sciences,
marketing or other relevant field
Additional
training in behavior change communication and/or project planning and
management
A
minimum of three to six years’ experience supporting donor-funded project
knowledge sharing/ management and communications activities
Demonstrated
excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal
skills in English
Demonstrated
competence in graphic design, for example Adobe Creative Suite
Ability
to conduct rapid stakeholder analysis and design appropriate communication
messages based on identified needs
Proven
experience developing communication messages
Experience
working with a variety of donors and USAID in particular
Computer
literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point, and graphic design software
Familiarity
and experience working with the Uganda health care system, the Ministry of Health,
District Government, and other development organizations in Uganda would be an
added advantage
Experience
working on USAID-funded projects is desirable
