year finishes, deepening their ability to enact change through heightened
skills and strong partnerships. We currently place fellows in Malawi, Rwanda,
Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.

with HIV/AIDS to live a responsible and dignified life. ROM uses a holistic
approach to the care of people living with HIV (PLHIV) that focuses on the
physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of the patient. This is
done by looking at the needs of the body, mind, family, and community in effective
patient care. The program focuses on HIV prevention, care and treatment, and
community and social support using low-cost interventions like nurse-led
medical care and utilization of expert clients as community health workers
(CHWs).
will improve ROM’s visibility through print, social, and electronic media and
ensure that the public is appropriately informed of key developments and events
in the organization, and to coordinate ROM partnerships at all levels while
maintaining a positive image of the organization. The fellow will work with the
PR and Communications Assistant to improve visibility that will help ROM
attract more funding for the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Scan the social environment to identify
issues in society that can affect ROM’s mission and come up with
advocacy-related interventions - Build and manage strong alliances and
networks with public and private partner organizations for concerted
advocacy efforts and greater participation in policy dialogue in line with
the ROM PR and communications policy - Take photographs, record video, document,
and share experiences arising from advocacy interventions with the
supervisor and other key stakeholders in line with the ROM PR and
communications policy - Develop an operational activity plan and
budget for communication and partnership issues - Prepare presentations, speeches, press
releases, electronic direct mailers, media, and communications - The incumbent will increase the visibility
of ROM using social media - Build the capacity of ROM staff in
communication, partnership, and networking - Coordinate the development and production
of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for advocacy
on HIV care, treatment, and prevention - Actively participate in carrying out
campaigns on issues related to HIV care, treatment, and prevention and
other emerging priorities - Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly
performance reports as required
- The ideal candidate for the Global Health
Corps Communication and Partnership Officer career opportunity should hold
a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication or related field - Good networking and collaboration skills
- Excellent, eloquent, and persuasive
communication skills - Good public relations skills
- Training or experience in resource
mobilization and partnership management - Project planning and management or public
relations and customer care - Demonstrated advocacy skills
- Ability to work as a team member and
independently - Good strategic planning skills
- Leadership and managerial skills
- Skills and experience in partnership
management - Interest or expertise in photography and
design - Good negotiation skills
Fellows will be provided with housing, health insurance and a living stipend of
$550/month. Additionally, fellows will receive an award of $1500 upon
successful completion of the fellowship year. Flights to and from the placement
site and all other costs associated with GHC programming are included,
including $600 in professional development funds. Fellows at Reach Out Mbuya
Parish HIV/AIDS Initiative are provided with a basic but comfortable private
apartment, situated in Kampala, an urban center and capital of Uganda.
