Agricultural and Rural Finance Programme. The various private sector partners
will cooperate with GIZ to work on the following three thematic areas: i)
Agriculture; ii) Access to Financial Services; and
planned include farmer organisation and training in Good Agricultural Practices
(GAP) and financial literacy, providing access to quality inputs and adequate
financial services as well as information collection and dissemination through
digital solutions.
Officer will actively contribute to the successful implementation of the
Strategic Alliance “Farmers as Entrepreneurs – Improving Livelihoods of
Smallholders in Uganda.” The incumbent
will be responsible for the following;
project
involved institutions, private partners, other counterparts and GIZ
Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing and conducting
project activities related to Agriculture, Agricultural Finance and ICT - Plans and supports trainings in GAP,
financial literacy and business management in different value chains (cotton,
coffee, sesame, maize, matooke) - Actively facilitates access for
smallholders to financial service providers and mobile payment operators - Supports international and national
advisors in implementing project with all organizational and management
issues Assists in planning and budgeting processes - Supports M&E activities
- Supports cooperation, regular contact and
dialogue with all partners and their field staff relevant for project
activities - Offers timely technical assistance to
staff of partners
- Encourages sharing ideas and information
for the benefit of the project - Assists with research activities and
studies on technical areas relevant to the project - Drafts reports and assists partners in
reporting
- Coordinates activities of different
stakeholders involved in the project - Aligns activities of partner field staff
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a good University
degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Finance or Information and Communication
Technology - Additional knowledge in M&E,
Agricultural Value-Chains as well as Agricultural Finance is desired - Previous experience in working with
smallholders and private sector companies is an asset - Computer literacy with excellent knowledge
of MS Office (especially Word, Excel) - Exceptional planning, organizing and
controlling skills - Self-driven and motivated to work
independently - Strong communication skills
- Willingness to travel upcountry regularly
- Very good knowledge of English and
Luganda, ideally also Knowledge of German - Willingness to upskill as required
