victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence.
Job Summary: The Staff
Health Nurse will counsel and guide staff on health related problems; Ensure
optimum, access to care for employees and their families; Maintain strict
confidentiality with regard to all medical information
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
Prevention:
  • Health risk assessment:
    identify risks, make recommendations and monitor implementation.
  • Medical briefing and debriefing all staff
    (national and international).
  • Keep and update individual staff health
    records.
  • Vaccinations and prophylaxis:
    regularly monitor vaccination needs and ensure compliance.
  • Keenly monitor and relay information on
    disease outbreaks and ensure access to emergency treatment.
  • Organize relevant and approved medical
    screening for staff, periodically,
  • Management of essential drug stocks for
    first aid, malaria prophylaxis, malaria test kits, etc
  • Manage and administer a Post Rape kit and
    PEP kit, according to institution and national policy.
  • Regularly monitor the sick leave
    certificates for national staff in coordination with HR managers
  • Manage the first aid kits in the work
    place, residences, vehicles and ensure staff are trained in this aspect.
HIV / AIDS workplace programme:
  • Implement and coordinate all the
    activities in relation to the HIV workplace programme.
  • Organize, train and support peer educators
    among the staff
  • Organize HIV sensitization for staff and
    family members during events like, Youth Day, World AIDS Day, etc.
  • Organize voluntary HIV counselling and
    testing at the work place with external providers.
  • Ensure that condoms are easily accessible
    at the work place.
  • Keep track of expenditure and ensure
    documentation is secure and handled in confidence.
  • Ensure compliance with the HIV-related
    Plan of Action, budget preparation and implementation.
  • Maintain a good network of health partners
    involved in HIV programmes
Clinical care and emergencies, including medical evacuation and
repatriation:
  • Identify and re-assess reference health
    facilities and professionals, annually.
  • Manage accident cases and medical
    emergencies for staff
  • Counsel and guide staff on health related
    problems and recommend referrals.
  • Follow-up and monitor cases of sickness,
    including hospitalization, etc.
  • Build and maintain close collaboration
    with health insurance providers and other medical providers.
  • Process all medical invoices and validate
    medical expenses.
  • Organize medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) and
    repatriation in coordination with Management.
Stress Management and crisis support: Offer peer support in
case of critical incidents
Health Insurance:  Work
closely with the Health Insurance provider, receive and review the performance
scheme and keep staff informed on ICRC medical cover, accident Insurance
coverage, hospital costs, etc.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Collect accurate and reliable data
with a view to providing periodic reports.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a qualified and
    registered Nurse with a diploma or degree in nursing.
  • At least three years’ experience in
    similar function (nursing & administration) with staff supervision
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • High sense of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational and analytical
    skills
  • Good administrative skills
  • Proficient reporting skills
  • High sense of responsibility and ability
    to take initiative and to work independently
  • Highly flexible and high level of
    tolerance
  • Excellent interpersonal and counselling skills
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken
    English
  • Age: Above 25 years
