disaster, conflict and poverty. They provide humanitarian aid to people in need
regardless of a person’s religious background, affiliation or experience.
Officer will provide assistance in the implementation of the security plans and
all matters relating to safety and security operations and management.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the implementation of Country
Office safety and Security Plan by developing and reviewing communication,
Evacuation and Hibernation Plans; - Ensures availability of updated procedures
for dealing with emergencies involving MTI staff in all project
locations/offices; - Ensures Safety and Security Instruction
Compliance as regards staff, office, and residential premises; - Carry out periodic appropriate security
assessments of MTI premises and equipment and provides advice on
shortfalls in security preparedness with recommended improvements and
solutions; - Offers support in the conducting of MTI
security risk assessments, evaluations and surveys and advises management
on security measures for MTI offices and projects in all locations; - Ensure appropriate liaison with other
security agencies responsible for security, law and order, counterparts in
UN, diplomatic missions and district/traditional leaders. - Provides advise on relevant security
policies and regulations to assist decision makers in determining
potential effects on MTI activities; - Under the direction of management review
the impact of security factors on MTI programme design and delivery and
makes preliminary recommendations; - Ensures that MTI staff members are
provided with situation reports and other appropriate security related
information generated by HQ; - Reports all security and safety related
incidents involving MTI staff; - Offers assistance in the conduct and
follow up of investigations and incidents affecting MTI staff and offices;
prepare weekly, monthly security reports.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
a Bachelor’s degree in Political /Social Science, International relations
or relevant field from a recognized university. - Additional training in Military Studies,
Security Management, and law enforcement is required. - A minimum of three years’ experience in a
similar role preferably in the military or police context or related field
of work. - Computer training is required (MS Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) - Prior experience with the UN system or an
international NGO is added advantage. - Knowledge of HF and VHF radio operation,
and country safety codes; Physical Fitness. - Language; Fluency in both
written and spoken English and Swahili is required.
