Project Officer – Food Security and Livelihood will provide leadership for
Livelihoods and Food Security Programme in the West Nile Region as well as
representing the sector at strategic level within Refugee programming
Ensure
that implementation of livelihood and Food Security strategy is aligned with
priorities of the settlement operation
The
jobholder will formalize the propositioning process through the preparation of
detailed concept notes for funding
Carry
out needs assessment and find out livelihoods and Food Security interventions
that impact large refugee populations
Identify
livelihoods and food security activities that could be done to intervene to the
observed needs in the refugee resettlements – both agricultural and
non-agricultural activities
Actively
participate in Age Gender diversity and mainstreaming(AGDM) with UNHCR and
other partners to guide annual planning
Take
lead in the livelihood sector in long-term planning and budgeting
In
line with a market-based approach, the incumbent will design and implement
livelihoods activities according to their potential for reaching self-reliance
(educational level, work-experience, previous skill straining, etc.)
Act
as the point of contact for consultation on issues to do with Livelihoods and
Food Security programming in the refugee settlements
Participate
in joint missions organized by UNHCR
Ensure
cross cutting themes are mainstreamed in Livelihoods & Food Security
interventions
Carrying
out routine monitoring of livelihood field activities, check on progress and
write achievements
Participate
in Quarterly Review Meeting internally and externally with relevant
Stakeholders (UNHCR,OPM).
Prepare
and submit weekly reports, weekly work plans, monthly activity reports,
quarterly and annual reports.
Actively
promote a culture of learning and documentation so that lessons learned and
good practices are documented and shared for institutional memory and learning
as well as to advocate on behalf of the communities with which we work.
Experience:
The applicant for the World Vision Project Officer-Food Security and
Livelihood job placement should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural sciences, social sciences or
development.
A
minimum of three to five years’ experience preferably with a busy NGO or UNHCR
agency, in implementing Resilience and livelihood interventions
Ability
to manage a team of staff as well as cooperate with other units. He/she must be
keen on details and well organized individual.
Ability
to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Effective
and efficient budget/financial management skills.
Ability
to relate to and motivate local staff effectively.
Excellent
self-motivation skills.
Previous
experience in refugee programming in any settlements in Uganda
Previous
experience carrying out livelihoods and food security assessments
Proposal
development experience for resilience and livelihoods opportunities
Ability
to work both as a motivating member and a leader of a diverse team
Excellent
communications skills in English, both oral and written
